Extended Diploma in Site Carpentry

Duration: 2 days/week (Thursday, Friday) for 24 weeks

​Everything in the Diploma, plus four extra units that reflect the real variety of a working carpenter’s week, delivered on day release so it fits around an apprenticeship and a work schedule rather than replacing it.

Learners will be assessed in the following areas:

• Power tool confidence

  • Safe, competent use of drills, saws and other portable power tools — skills every modern site expects.

• Repair & maintenance skills

  • Fixing mouldings, doors, window frames and sash cords — the kind of everyday call-out work a working carpenter does alongside new-build.

• Materials know-how

  • Mixing mortar, concrete and render safely and to spec — a skill that comes up on almost every site.

• Stronger employability skills

  • Teamwork, communication and understanding what employers expect — built in, not left to chance.
